This page explains the VanMoof repair warranty at Vanmoofista, including warranty terms for repairs, reused parts, refurbished bikes and diagnostics.

Legal guarantee for second-hand bikes

  • For second-hand bikes, the legal guarantee is 2 years from delivery.
  • Belgian law allows us and the customer to agree to shorten this to 1 year for second-hand goods, but never less than 1 year.
  • If a 1-year period is agreed, this is clearly written on the invoice and confirmed in writing.
  • If no 1-year period is clearly and unambiguously agreed in writing, the default is 2 years.

What the legal guarantee means

  • If a lack of conformity appears within the applicable legal guarantee period, it is presumed to have existed at delivery, unless we prove otherwise.
  • You are entitled to free repair or replacement.
  • If repair or replacement is impossible or disproportionate, you can request a price reduction or refund.

Deadlines

Please inform us as soon as possible and within 2 months after discovering the lack of conformity.

Any legal action must generally be brought within 1 year from the day you noticed the lack of conformity.

Exclusions

Not covered by warranty unless clearly defective at delivery:

  • Normal wear-and-tear items: brake pads, tires, chain, grips, cosmetic scratches
  • Damage caused by misuse, neglect, accidents, or pressure-washing
  • Defects resulting from tuning or modification

Repair warranty

We provide a 6-month repair warranty on all paid repairs performed by our workshop. This covers workmanship and parts we install for that repair under normal use.

  • If a repair is performed as a legal-guarantee remedy for a product we sold you, the 2-year legal-guarantee period is suspended during the repair and then resumes.
  • Parts fitted during such a legal-guarantee repair are covered for the remaining legal-guarantee period.
  • If you purchase new spare parts separately, those parts benefit from the 2-year legal guarantee for consumer goods.

Transport

Transport is covered when required by law. In other cases, pickup, delivery or shipping costs are agreed separately before the repair or return.
